At Half-Mast is a melodic hardcore punk band hailing straight out of California. Flight Patterns is their latest 7 inch and hints at a band that is about to hit their artistic stride. This is a band that definately isn't aiming at breaking any musical boundaries and seems to be more focused on contributing to the evolution of a genre that's been rather stagnant in the last 10-15 years. Passionate lyrics, burning guitar work, solid  rhythm section and vocals that transpire genuine emotion all merge together for one of the best 7 inches released in the last 5 years. Once this band releases their next album they will most likely become something to be reckoned with. The only shortcoming of Flight Patterns is definately it's length; they are clearly the kind of band that could make a solid LP of about 30-40 minutes without a single dull moment. However, the record clearly succeeds on it's mission statement: blow everything the band has previously done out of the water.
