AMIA VENERA LANDSCAPE - THE LONG PROCESSION (2010)

Amia Venera Landscape - The Long Procession
mathcore / chaotic hardcore / progressive / ambient

Meet Amia Venera Landscape from Italy, a band as polarizing as it is mesmerizing. Fusing high octane chaotic hardcore, ambient / drone and melodic passages similar to the quieter side of Between The Buried And Me, the band is definitaley high concept. From face melting opener Empire to the sprawling 15 minutes epic Marasm, The Long Procession does exactly what the title implies: an emotionally and physically draining journey. The band ventures in places not many of their peers are willing to go and will often forsake agression to let the melodic passages get the air they need to fully breathe. They do not fall in the common pits often associated with bands mixing screams and clean vocals as the later are very well done. May you be warned; a lot of those passages are present on the record. My only gripe is that sometimes the clean vocals should be set aside a little more as they sometime take you away from the ongoing instrumental prowess.

And please take a look at the album art, it's downright HAUNTING.
